Do I need any other tests?
The UK CAA & EASA require all Class 1 pilots to have a finger prick test every year to rule out anaemia. Some Pilots/ATCOS may also be required to use the same test to check their cholesterol levels.
For Class 1 Pilots an audiogram (hearing test) is required every 5 years below the age of 40 years. This is then required every 2 years above the age of 40 years.
An ECG maybe required depending on your age and medical history. This test does involve placing sticky pads on the chest. Ladies area advised to wear a non-wired bra/sports bra and anyone with a lot of hair may be required to shave the patches where the pads attach.
Sometimes your ECG may need to be sent to a local Cardiologist for an opinion at an extra cost.
